Do you feel that the decision to get an abortion is a right that should be left up to the woman, or do you feel that it is something that the government should be allowed to declare illegal?
Definition of Abortion:
The removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus from the uterus, resulting in or caused by its death.
OVERVIEW:
There are two forms of abortion which are spontaneous and induced.
Spontaneous abortion, more commonly known as a miscarriage, refers to the death of a foetus due to accidental or natural causes.
Induced abortion refers to the deliberate action of causing death to a foetus through human action. Induced abortion is currently legal in most life-threatening or life-changing circumstances, and varies upon request.
In pregnancy the foetus has developed many of its major organs, including the heart, somewhere in between 6 to 12 weeks. This fact, I don't believe, is known to many. I didn't even know this until sometime last year. The defintion of the word kill, which is synonomous with the word murder, meaning they are interchangeable, is "to deprive life in any matter; to cause death."
The definition of death is "the act of dying; the end of life; the total and permanent cessation of all the vital functions of an organism." If these definition were to hold true then by law, which is determined by the interpretation of ced definitions, abortion would be illegal any later than the sixth week.
The abortion process is allowed to be done as late as the 20th week according to my research on wikipedia.com. (Simply type in abortion for the same evidence I have gathered) Given that murder and kill are synonyms and that death is anti-life, abortion would, by law be considered murder and should be treated as such, unless the fact is that it is to save the mother. That, and that alone should be the only reason for any abortion to ever take place.
In regards to the rape victims, etc. it is unfortunate, but I would have to say that there is no way to determine whether a woman was actually raped or not. Unfortunately that is the reality. I wish it weren't true, but I truly believe that many of the women that go out and keep getting pregnant and use abortion as a form of birth control only have to fake a rape to validate their reason for an abortion and sadly this isn't that difficult of a task. It's almost completely word to mouth confirmation, which is not good enough to take a life.
The U.S. government, in my opinion, is literally crippling itself by making loop-holes, and giving us no reason to respect them. Allowing abortion, I feel, is literally sending the message that you can do whatever you want and never face the consequences. This country was founded by giving lives to protect freedom, not giving lives for your convenience.
Raising a child is a full time job, and some people just are not ready for the lifetime commitment required in rearing a well adjusted child. Handing a babe off to foster care will do nothing but cause undo strain on our governments coffers.
Of course I believe that all of this can be avoided if more people were properly educated in birth control. Abortion should be a final, well thought out choice. If you have the means to raise the child, you should. If you know you will be unable to care for said child, then perhaps it is worth thinking about abortion.
